Need HELP!!!

Recently I’m noticing that my tray blue avast “a” icon spinning all the time and it never stops. Earlier it was only spinning for some seconds whenever I opened a file or any applications, and then it stopped. But now it is spinning all the time even when my computer is idle. I’m very confused about what is going on. So if you know what is happening then please suggest me any solutions… ???

Welcome to the forums, puzzling_heart.

Is this a new installation of Avast?

Do you have the “a” icon only or do you have both the “a” and “i” icons?

Do you have another anti-virus program on your computer or have you had in the past?

Well it rotates when it is scanning, so you need to identify what it is scanning, this may identify the reason.

In the Standard Shield > Customize > Advanced, ‘Show detailed info on performed actions’ this option is off by default, but when enabled will show what is being scanned. This is relatively fast but you should be able to get an idea of what is being scanned (report the findings here). You will soon want to disable it as it takes up some screen real estate.

What are you doing at the time, are you running something in the background, P2P, downloading something, etc. ?

Maybe nothing was wrong.
Mine is spinning all the time, too.

What are you doing at that time? Browsing, checking emails… I mean, what’s going on on background?

Entirely depends on your definition of spinning all the time (?), mine is it never stops and that would be clearly wrong unless you had an active process in the background constantly opening and or modifying/creating files.

That is why an on-access scanner would be scanning and why the avast icon would be rotating. So you have to determine why it is rotating to say if it is right or wrong.

Thanks all u guys, thanks 4 ur replies.
