I have avast home edition and I need help. I started avast and it was scanning to test the memory and startup and then a pop-up came up from avast. This is what is says:
UNKOWN ERROR:
Skin is not complete. Look at the following description:
Skin is not loaded properly.
Then after that error comes up I click the OK button and another window comes up which I have to choose the skin. I choose one of the skins and click the OK button and the same error message comes up again.
Newbie here, (although I have been using Avast for years without issue–until now.)
A few days ago, I updated to Avast Home Edition version 4.8–and with THAT, I cannot now open the program except by disabling Skins.
I too am getting this annoying “Skin is not complete” error.
I have tried a repair installation.
I have tried a complete new installation.
Still have the problem.
Running Vista (and Windows Defender)
Am reluctant to disable Defender–but would appreciate any comments on that.
I need also help. I am already using avast home for around a year. I am using MS OUTLOOK. Now, i noticed that avast is saying : 6 operations are working. No longer “Outlook/exchange”. One message : “Is waiting on a sub system”. Can somebody help me what to do. I’ve already uninstalled avast and reinstalled but nothing changed. Thanks for your help.
If it is started then check this out:
Make sure the avast plug-in/add-in is not disabled in MS Outlook:
Outlook 2007 > Tools > Trust center > Add-ins > Manage Disabled items.
Outlook 2003 > Help > About > Disabled items
Outlook 2000 > Tools menu > Options > Other > Advanced Options > Add-In Manager.
I don’t use MS Outlook, only Outlook Express, so I can’t be any practical help. My previous suggestion normally resolves the problem.
I don’t know what else to suggest if it still isn’t working other than:
Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. This has in the past resolved this out of sync issue between reported and actual VPS version.
If that doesn’t work try, uninstall, reboot, install, reboot.
Have (or did) you another Anti-Virus installed in this system, if so what was it and how did you get rid of it ?
