We are trying to find out how to attach to a computers virus chest from the console like you could in 4.8.
Can anyone help with that?
Thanks.
I don’t think this functionality exists yet. I’ve been going to each machine (RDP) and opening the chest from the avast netclient installed on the machine.
Thanks for the quick answer.
Bummer though, another check mark in the “avast! Not for-Business Protection” column.
Really getting frustrated.
what do you want to do with files in the chest?
I want to so the same thing as in ADNM 4.x. I want to connect to the remote computers chest to restore a file that avast marked as false positive and moved it into the chest.
The file was setpwr32.exe in c:\Windows\ - it was detected as malware on 2011-09-02, durining the nightly quick scan. The next day the definitions were updated and this file no longer was being reported as malware (as of 2011-09-06 on Virus Total).
The problem is that all my clients moved this system file into the chest and and need to restore it.
So your saying a network/business application still will require me to go to EVERY workstation, log on and restore the False Positive file. I find that a bit outrageous considering avast detected as a false positive anyway.
I am a huge fan of avast! and have been using/recommending it for years to people over the standard solutions. But the upgrade from ADNM to BP or BPP and it’s console is VERY disappointing and lacking so much functionality and there is ABSOLUTELY NO DOCUMENTATION to help an Admin of ADMN 4.x to move to BP or BPP and get similar functionality. I get that things change and they way the software works. But you have left many administrators upset, unsure on the product and I hate to say it, looking at other options after many, many years with avast!.
Maybe i am missing something here, but wouldn’t i want to send “infected” files to the chest on a nightly quick scan, and STILL be able to connect to the “infected” computers and restore the file FP file, so the user can reboot and get back to work?
Sorry for the rant.
