Since the 2014 update avast web shield has blocked all my internet traffic and made other programs not work at all. Where can i find a download link to the version before the 2014 update for the internet security version?
hi magusyilie,
Here: http://www.filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus/15860/
You’ll need aswclear.exe to finalize removal of 2014: http://www.avast.com/en-us/uninstall-utility
Note that the .jpg’s below illustrate what to do. File Mirror link only will get you the free version of 8.0.1497; do not click the ‘Download This Version’ link as that will not give you the file you want.
Unticking the ‘Self Defense’ module will ensure that the uninstall process runs smoothy before you begin. Be sure to not be connected as you will have no protective software when done.
You should be able to update from free to AIS by inserting your license.
[EDIT:] Since you want an older version you need to ensure program update settings are set to ‘manual’ only until you are ready to upgrade to the latest build.
This did not work. When I put in my license key it automatically updates to the current version. I was however able to find a copy of the internet security 7 installer on another hard drive though. Will continue to use it until the 2014 bugs are worked out.
Glad you found one you can use.
One thing to try with a system that has issues is to run sfc /scannow in your cmd prompt as administrator to see if you’ve got any windows system files that are corrupted or not in original configurations. Scan will take some time, allow the scan to finish and complete. Do not use the system for anything else whilst this program is running. It should report that fixes were attempted and repairs were successful or it was unable to fix any issues it found; on a clean system it will report no issues whatsoever.
XP will need the system installation disk in the CD/DVD drive to run sfc /scannow. Vista/Win 7/Win 8 do not need a CD to do the sfc scan. Note that there is a space between sfc and …/scannow.
