Need Password to Access The Real-time Scanners

Hello All,
I’ve used Avast happily since 2002 and have encountered a strange problem
all of a sudden.

I can start/run the manual scan with no problem. But whenever I try to
access the Avast Scanner to view the providers, it requests a password.
When I paste in the annual password (or the new one I just received) the
popup box says “You didn’t enter the correct password.” Is the word
registration-key and “password” synonymous in Avast terminology?

I’ve run a throrough manual scan. No viruses were found. This problem
suddenly began just this past weekend. Any advice is appreciated. Thankyou.

Somebody or maybe you entered password protection so nobody else can change the settings. If you don’t know who, the only way to remove the password is to uninstall and install avast again

In fact, the key is stored into Windows Registry… If you send an email to Vlk he will be able to tell you where is it.
Of course, it will be easier just uninstalling and installing again. 8)

Oh, password is not the same as the Registration Key number sent by email (avast! registration).

Thanks for the Advice and Guidance, Tech. I did uninstall and reinstall
Avast. That did the trick! In fact, the manual scan seems to run even
faster now, for some reason. I guess it’s a good idea to delete and
reinstall many programs every couple of years. Thanks again my friend!
