I keep getting e-mail that I need to register avast free.The thing is that when I click on the icon and go to registration it says am registered until 2011, how do I get this fixed ?
What avast ? 4.8.1368 or 5.0.462…?
Who is sending that mail?
Had you installed 4.8 Home prior to 5 free? Might be you installed 5 over 4.8 and registered newly, so the reminder belongs to the “old” 4.8 registration.
Just ignore the mails if the UI says you are registered.
if you have free then no email, only at UI who tell about your registration, “do have antispyware looks like you need this, find one for you”
do you know where that e-mail come from?

I have avast 5.0.462 free, the e-mail is from Register@avast.com.Here are the instructions,
** For users of avast! Free Antivirus v5.0 (orange ball) **
- Highlight the license key above, then right click on it and select “Copy”
- Right click the orange “a-ball” in the bottom right corner of the screen, then left click “Registration information”
- Click the “Insert license key” button at the bottom of the screen.
- Right click in the empty Registration box then select “Paste”
- Click “OK”. Your license key is now inserted and the program can now be used free of charge for a further 12 months.

they then give me a license key.
Okay, if your UI says that you are registered, you can just ignore the mail.
You could also insert the key, just as you like.
The only important status is in the UI: UI says registered, then everything is fine.
