…Was using AVG as an antivirus but dowloaded avast when i knew something was wrong with my computer and AVG kept assuring me i had no viruses. Scan reveals that my computer is apparently infected with Win32:CTX and Win32:TipSea-E [Trj] but the virus cannot be removed/files repaired. I dont pretend to know anything about computers/viruses, and i definitely dont know how to go about getting rid of them. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated…
Cherry, are you using Windows XP?
Can you schedule a boot-time scanning?
Start avast! > Right click the skin > Schedule a boot-time scanning
Select for scanning archives.
Boot.
Access denied means, generally, that the file is in use by another process (program) and cannot be repaired/cleaned/moved/handled by avast!
In more details: scheduling the Boot Time Scan
Click on the Menu button.
Choose Schedule Boot Time Scan.
Doing so displays a dialog allowing you to schedule virus scanning.
Check Archives, if you want scan all the archives.
Specify whether all the disks or just a specific folder should be scanned.
Select Advanced options for scheduling details.
Select how to automatically process infected files.
Choose how to automatically process infected system files.
Click the Schedule button to confirm the settings.
Having two resident scanners installed on your system isn’t advised, they can and often do cause conflict.
I assume that you did uninstall AVG prior to installing avast?
What is your OS?
Files in use or in certain folder are protected by windows and as such can’t be moved or deleted.
What was filename and location where was it found
example (C:\windows\system32\infected-filename.xxx)?
If the “boot-time scan(s)” do NOT get rid of these, I would
suggest you use 1 of 2 FREE & good anti-TROJANS
