need some help

hi have problem since i installed avast i cannot update or install a program i had spybot search and destroy couldn’t update so i downloaded new updated version. but cant install it says error sending request.the server name or address could not be resolved

Can not you have the computer software and avast conflict :)If the computer determines that there is no virus or lack of procedure-related, please check your network and whether it is normal ;D

I have Spybot and avast without problem. Both programs are compatible. Which is your firewall? Does disabling avast allow SpyBot to update?

before i uninstalled spybot it was working fine its after that i cannot reinstall it
haw do i disable avast sorry for my ignorance i m new
my firewall is window xp(tried disabling it )but same thing

avast shouldn’t interfere. I think the problem is on Spybot.
Anyway, you can disable it right clicking the ‘a’ blue icon and choosing ‘Stop on-access protection’.

Windows firewall is NOT the problem here.

From looking at the SS&D forum it seems that the error occurs when updating during the installation

Try un-checking the box that says:

“check for updates immediately”

and continue with the installation, update and scan
