Need some understanding

Hello every one I am new and I have a question I need to ask.

Ok I was running my avast 4.7 home edition the other day and when it was done and poped up the window it says:

Unable to scan:Archive is password protected.

Well what I am asking is what does this mean???

Also I ran the updates and everthing and it is telling me the virus recovery database (VRDB) has not been done yet, What do I do and what does that mean it has not been done yet sence it has been updated?

Hi Swift welcome to the Avast Forum

This may help to answer some of your questions about password protected Archive Files
This is a link I found using the Search function at the top of this page
http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=16590.0

Well this is exactly what it says. avast! cannot scan password protected files as well as you can’t view those files unless you have the password.
Lavasoft Ad-aware is for example using some encrypted files that will give such message. Bottom line, you don’t have to worry about these, avast! just notifies you that it scanned archives but were password protected.

Ok thank you, I am still looking around and I found those about 5mins ago…lol.

Well that is nice I dont have to worrie about them being infected lol

Ok well what about the last one?? I have tryed to reinstall it and tryed to turn it on

Swift if you right click on the Avast Icon in the system Tray and selet the method of database (VRDB)
What happens??
