Need testers for new AEC tweak! (Home Edition only)

With AEC v1.5.040 i’ll introduce Packer Support control for avast! Home Edition. But first i’d like to ask some volenteers for help. I’m using Pro version,so i cannot test right now.

Download BETA TEST with this new feature:
http://freeweb.siol.net/razor256/downloads/AEC_1.5.040_BETA.zip

TEST HERE (use ZIP-ed test samples):
http://www.eicar.org/anti_virus_test_file.htm

ENABLE Packers Support and test with EICAR:
If you get warning Packers Support for HE is working perfectly.

DISABLE Packers Support and test with EICAR:
If you don’t get any warning DISABLE feature is also working.

I’m not responsible for any damage you might make, but i’ll most certanly help to fix if the AEC won’t do its job as it should (this involves simple editing of one file).

If you have ANY questions regarding this feature and this BETA TEST version, please feel free to ask.

Thanks many times!

Hi Rejzor,
It seems that if i disable the packer support, avast still warns me when i download the eicar.zip file.

Ok so the tweak enabled it  I will then just have to fix the disable part.
Strange,i changed the value directly in storage database (XML) and not in DefTasks.xml ???

Anyway Packers support was discuntinued for now. It will not be implimented soon. Its simply too much scripts to make and if anything will change in v4.5 i’ll have to do everything again. After v4.5 will be released i’ll think about it. And most probably impliment it too. Along all other goodies brought by v4.5

Sorry for this “spam” topic…

No problem

I just wanted to help.

When I click on the link for The Beta version of AEC I keep getting a HTTP 404 not found, I there another link for me to download the beta version?

rejzor is finished with the beta so he most likely deleted the file from his server.

Ah ok, thanks Maclover2000

Have A nice day,

Have A nice day
you too ;)

Well its almost my bed time but I will have a “good night” ;D

RejZoR, why won’t it work with the Pro version?

You don’t need packers enabler for avast! Pro version doh. It has controls that are already built into it.

Oh, I see…
I thought you will need to change something into deftasks.xml file to do this into Home version… Anyway, this is for on-access scanning of archives into Home version. What will your packers enabler do?

It will enable archive scanning (On-Access) for Home Edition. By default there is no controls to enable this and its disabled by default.

Very nice
Well, I think in Pro version is just click on the Resident Shi
