I have disabled all audible warnings, turned off the taskbar icon, turned off community participation and features and set it to silent gaming mode but I still cant get the darn thing to let me disable AvastUI.exe in autoruns. It keeps putting it back. I know I can disable Avast Self Defense Mode but this seems like it’s not the best idea since the AvastSvc.exe can also be killed (albeit that it turns itself back on) but it is still it’s not the most ideal form of protection.
Avira allowed me to turn their UI off and your protection works just find without your UI as well. just allow me to disable the AvastUI.exe so I can turn back on the taskbar icon, that way when I need to disable the AV I can just run Avast from the start menu and then it goes away on reboot or taskmanager,
While you may see this as a small deal, I find it a big one. I am somewhat OCD and things running in the background I don’t want there bug me. This tiny thing will inevitability cause me to go back to Avira but I like your memory use better so please consider this change.
how about you do as you wish and I will do as I wish. It is my choice to run whatever form of anti virus I wish. If I wish to run none at all that is also my preference. I am making a request to the developers, not asking for your opinion on what I should or should not do with my personal computer. If you have a suggestion on how to turn off the UI please respond, if not please don’t patronize me.
I did mention above “turned off the taskbar icon”. This does not disable the AvastUI.exe from running in the background still, for some unknown reason. When I turn off ALL notifications AND the taskbar icon, why is it still running??? I want to turn it off.
No, you did not make a request to the developers.
You are asking something to everyone on this webboard.
That means everyone who reads it can reply.
Fair enough, but your first response helped no one. It felt like you were assuming I was an idiot and trying to explain to me why I am so stupid. The AvastUI.exe is in NO way an essential part of Avast. It has absolutely NO use after I disable all notifications and turn off all sounds and icons. It is nothing more then a front end for the software and if I wish to not see anything and want it all automated then I should have that prerogative.
AvastSvc.exe is the only part of avast someone needs, it is the part that scans and deals with viruses. that is ALL I want from them. Nothing more at all. I dont want internet scanning, I dont want firewall, I dont want sandboxing, I dont want filters, I want NOTHING more then a simple, tiny, invisible file monitor that removes files that are viruses. Which it does now, but that stupid AvastUI.exe is still running, doing nothing.
As for why it is bugging me, I assume you are not a PC Power user. You don’t care about things running in the background, but I do. It bothers me.
That is like saying "give me malware, infect my system"
PC Power user
That depends on your definition of it. I build my first computer in 1981 with electronic components (transistors, resistors, capacitors etc.)
I sure do care what it is running. In the background or not.
Currently I have only 25 processes running on the system I am using now.
I would say don’t worry about avastui and let avast do what it should do.
Protecting your system in the best way it can.
It almost doesn’t use any memory or other system resources.
god, you all are treating the GUI like without it your antivirus will go on the fritz and blow up. No I will not just ignore it. I will leave Avast’s self protection off, disable it in autoruns and wait for them to get their head out of their ass. Thanks anyways.
Also @Eddy. Nope, don’t consider that a power user. 30 year old skills are no help in 2014. I got a neighbor who also built computers from resistors and transistors “Back in the good old days” and he can barely turn the thing on and find google. It’s not the same. The fact you know how many process you are running though, that tells me you might be.
Regardless of those things “Don’t worry about it” is never the right thing to do.
disable the AvastUI.exe. Download a virus. It is STILL REMOVED. I tried it, I have some old virus files on my pc for testing purposes.
It does NOT NEED THE UI TO SCAN FOR VIRUSES OR MALWARE.
