I AM A BIG FAN of avast and it serves me and my computer well, thank you for such a GREAT FREE ANTI VIRUS, I CANNOT WAIT FOR AVAST 5.0 FINAL RELEASE OF AVAST FREE ANTI VIRUS 5.0 now.

I was using and testing avast 5.0.259 (BETA 3)
I thought I would bring to your attention a few small things that need to be fixed before the final release of avast 5.0.

I found the following still need bit of work to be done on them.

  1. I scheduled a boot time scan but it did not do one at all, it went straight to windows start up and DID NOT do the boot tine scan at all please could you kindly look into this problem.

  2. I also found that while using avast 5.0 that when there was a program update it did not update automatically, even though I had program update set on automatic I did it manually.

  3. In the sounds part of avast all the sound boxes were checked (ticked) but the only sound I heard was a ladies voice saying and letting me know that the virus database has been updated.
    I never heard any sound or voice when a scan ended, if a virus was detected and so on.

I hope my concerns and findings will be looked into.

As for the first problem:

If you have a 64 bit operating system, the boot-time scan is unavailable. From what I’ve heard, it will be included in sub-release of 5.0 (like 5.1). So, not available yet, but on it’s way.

Second problem: Program updates aren’t set to automatic at the moment. Again, since it’s still beta, they haven’t got that to work fully. As for the third problem, I can’t remember if there is a fix for it, or if it’s still broken in the beta. It has been discussed in the forum though, search around.
