need to find out which process causes an unusual I/O activity

Hi

i did notice on a friend’s computer an unusual I/O activity

the only software installed that starts with xp is avast last built

how can i find which is the process that consume I/O ?

which is the best program to find out ?
i used process hacker

but are there some tips to find the process

under w7 i found out and it was super prefetch

by the way the hardware is ok

hey i suggest you do a scan with otl and post the result here. so we can have a look one it.

Download OTL to your Desktop: http://oldtimer.geekstogo.com/OTL.com
Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
Select All Users
Under the Custom Scan box paste this in
netsvcs
%SYSTEMDRIVE%*.exe
/md5start
explorer.exe
winlogon.exe
Userinit.exe
svchost.exe
/md5stop
CREATERESTOREPOINT
Click the Quick Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
Attach both logs in your next post.

do a scan with malwarebytes antimalware aswell.

download install update and do a scan and don’t forget to remove what it finds. and a system reboot might be needed.
