Need to reformat computer. How to save certain programs?

I would like to reformat my computer.

I bought this computer secondhand with the programs installed, but didn’t get the Microsoft Office CD.

Is there anyway I could save the Microsoft Office programs, and then re-install them? Would I need a product code or password or whatever? If it’s already on the computer, how can I retrieve it?

Could someone kindly tell me how I could save these programs in their entirety so I could re-install them?

Hi…

If at all possible, I would try to get the CD if it came originally with your computer as an OEM copy. You won’t be able to save the Office programs themselves but you should be able to save any documents you created using the programs.

If you are unable to obtain the CD, you could try ebay or Royal Discount. If you choose to purchase another copy, be sure to get the “retail” version.

God bless

What computer is it? Name / Number

I was thinking that if the computer is not to old it may have a recovery partition?
but not sure if microsoft office would be on it?

Then there is Open Office http://www.openoffice.org/index.html

Hi…

It’s certainly possible but I know with my desktop system (a Gateway Pentium 4,) the OEM copy of Microsoft Works and Word 2002 came on seperate CD’s and is tied to the system.

Best Regards…
