Need To Verify My Bank Login Every Time

So I need To verify my Bank Login every time by having a text sent to my phone, than after logging in I check the ‘register my private computer’ but the check doesn’t stay, next time I try to login I need to verify again

and I suspect this is because of some security function in Avast? If it is, what setting do I change?

Have you asked your bank ???

Hi Joe180,

Seems if the page you’ve pasted is from your bank website? Please post some variation of this but without your personal identifying information: (Example) https://secure.bankofamerica.com/login/sign-in/signOnV2Screen.go

Without knowing what the page is, and where it is from, impossible to say.

The login page (screenshot) is from my bank,

I saw this page on Avast for web exclusions, would I put my banks login page in as an exclusion? I’ll ask my bank tomorrow!

What makes you think it’s Avast that’s causing the problem ???

It didn’t do it with the free Avast, but I upgraded to premier and that’s when it started happening.

Which browser or does it happen in all browsers ???

I only use FFox Bob, on a windows machine.

I’m still not sure this is an Avast problem but, since you’r using a paid version, try the following:

http://support.avast.com/support/home
or
http://support.avast.com/support/tickets/new

Are you using any VPN such as Avast Secureline?

I’m not sure about the VPN, just Avast straight out of the box with some Exclusions.

thanks for the support link Bob, just opened a ticket!

If you look at Avast UI > Settings > Components > SecureLine VPN…

Is it enabled?

If you’re using a VPN and connected to a server (different country), the IP address would be different resulting in the banking site asking you to verify to ensure it’s you.

If not, just ignore my previous comment and try this:

If you go to Avast UI > Settings > Components > Web Shield and disable the shield, does the same issue persist?

If that doesn’t work, you’ll need to disable each shield manually to figure out what component is behind the issue. Alternatively, you can disable Avast completely via the tray icon and see if the issue persists.

Also possible bank requires two-factor authentication and hasn’t yet updated website to reflect that.

No VPN, and yes, when I disabled the web shield was able to login normally!

See if this does the trick:

He is getting “two factor authentication” … that can usually be turned off at the site you are logging into. Also on some sites, when you are on a new computer, it takes several logins before it will recognize your computer without the challenge code. Here is a link to which banks are currently supporting 2 factor authentication:
