I am on linux kubuntu 7.04. I was just attacked by a malware multiple popup (scanner.malware-scan). I immediately closed Firefox and did a complete Avast scan which included windows files on the dual boot windows partition. At the end I was presented with “results of last scan” which listed a huge number of files including some from win partition. I was told that right clicking would give options but it did nothing. Could someone help? Do I need to worry?
Kubuntu 7.04 couldn’t move/change files in Windows partitions unless you’ve tweaked your installation. By the way, 7.10 is the last version, update 8)
Some files on Linux partition could be blocked/in use, so you must run avast as root.
sudo avastgui
on terminal will do it.
I followed yr suggestion sudo avastgui and scanned only home dir. One file turned up in scan. Again right clicking did nothing.
Hmmm… can you post the full name and path of this file?
Can you send it to virus (at) avast.com for analysis?
