NetClient : 4.7 to 4.8 upgrade, problems afterwards.

Good day.

Using ADNM 4.8, I upgraded all company workstations from 4.7.x to 4.8.1005. All clients upgraded, new version reported to ADNM console, the virus scanner starts, no problems reported.

However, when I attempt to use the control panel item to check for updates, or update the clients to a new program version, or run the setup_av_net.exe program manually, I get the following error :

AppName : avast.setup
AppVer :4.8.0.0
ModName : aswcmnb.dll
ModVer : 4.8.1296.0
Offset : 000088dd

This occurs on both the server version and workstation edition, on all (1-2 dozen) PCs tested. ADNM works fine through the control panel options. There is only one copy of the “aswcmnb.dll” file on each PC tested. Any suggestions?

I see the same problem on my 4.8 managed clients, if I click the “Change/Remove” button in XP’s “Add or Remove Programs”.

I ran the removal tool on a test workstation, rebooted, verified no files or registry items were left, and then reinstalled using the current installer from the web. Same error occurs.

I have sent this info to support, but have not heard back yet.

I’m getting the same error via Add/Remove programs actually. Mine specifically was installed via a MSI file I created and not pushed out. But I think mine was a fresh install and not an upgrade from 4.7.

[Also note that in 4.8, Avast stops MSConfig from turning off Avast services that you want off.]

Trying to upgrade existing installs via control panel from 4.8.1005 to 4.8.1038, same error…
