Have just installed Avast Home on 98 computer. Seems to be running OK except - have email log-on issue.
Use Netscape mail. Have set up POP server which scans OK in & out. Also use Netscape webmail imap account which was logging on OK before setting up Avast Home. Avast changed settings so - (hoping the server is the correct one).
To get Pop server to work had to change # to @ - to accept my username. (Still goes through Avast OK). Can’t see where to change account settings for imap server. Have been trying to set up as new account again - but Netscape web site not letting me at moment.
Had already removed protection for Email by using Mail protection wizard. Once I’d done that both (Pop & Imap) accounts worked OK - without protection.
Have now copied over “default” info for avast.ini file from Technical post - for [MailScanner] & [Communication] sections. Checked everything still worked OK (AV program & email.) - then ran Mail protection wizard again.
Pop works OK. Not have to change pop server names this time in email prog. Header shows scan runs OK in & out.
Imap still not work. - Mail server password popup runs - showing server setting as “correctname”#imap.mail.netcenter.com. Type in correct password then get “login failed” alert. (Username & password work on Netscape web site)
(This is what happened first time with pop server before I manually changed server settings in Email prog. which fixed it. Originally listed as “username”#server - rather than “username@server”#server. Pop server this time round looks like “username@server”#server - and did not have to be changed.)
Correct server names are listed - but the default pop server should really be - mail.internode.on.net (as per smtp). This doesn’t seem to affect pop server or scan performance.
