Network Drainer Fix ?

Hey guys Figured this would be the best place to ask.

First off i would like to say i have a very slow internet connection, I live in the woods and reception and service is very poor.
I only get 1-3 mbps usualy about 1.5mbps.

I was looking at my network usage by individual processes, and noticed avast using a bit. It was on the top of the chart.

So i was thinking i could either block the connection to it or change the process.
I googled and came across another thread about changing the process, but was reading how it would change the scan speed and stuff witch i dont necessarily want to do.
I just want to have it use none or less of my network.

I would like to know if there are any options i can take to do this.

Ive included a picture.

Avast acts like a local proxy, so that’s totally normal and explains the (misleading) stats.

Im not sure i understand what you are saying.
Can you explain?

If its using a proxy then is it not using my network ?

If it is, Then what are my options to disbale or stop it from doing so.
It says nyc05.ff.avast.com
So if i block this in my firewall will this prevent the data flow?

It is a local proxy, not a Internet proxy.

  1. Explain what exactly…?
  2. See Reply #3 from Eddy.
  3. That’s one of the stream servers. (Can be disabled in the update settings, if needed.)
