Network .exe always being Deep Scanned

We have a maintenance PC that runs a networked .exe. Since Avast2015 recent update it is being deep scanned and hangs the maint program whenever it is opened. For testing I created 2 shortcuts to the program, one with UNC path and one thru a map drive. I’ve added the file and path (\server\path* ; \server\path\program.exe ; Q:\path* ; Q:\path\program.exe) to:
Real-time Scan exclusion
Settings - File Path exclusion
Deep File exclusion
Hardened Mode exclusion

But every time the program is run it is deep scanned. I’ve seen forum posts saying that exclusions are broken for a lot of people but turning off deep scan and turning on Hardened Mode - Aggressive and adding an exclusion that way as a work around. This is not working for me either. Even after turning off deep mode and turning off Hardened mode and running the program STILL forces a deep scan on the network exe.

The only way I’ve been able to get the program to run correctly is disabling Avast altogether which is pretty dangerous on a shared maintenance shop PC.

Anyone have any input on this?

If you could identify the process name from this listing, might help some: http://processchecker.com/file/network.exe.html

Function of DeepScreen is to scan low-prevalence files that want to run on a system; likely that is the case here.

Sorry, I was being overly generic with my explanation.

The executable is actually mtwin.exe - Horizon Maintenance package by Melton Technologies (MTI)

This? http://www.meltontechnologies.com/ Definitely a low-prevalence file if so.

Are you running the free version of avast!

Anyway, if the above is true, then this is a business application we’re talking about, and your antivirus version is not the consumer version, paid or free. It would also appear that this is some sort of enterprise or business entity you’re talking about where your enterprise version of avast is being used. This should mean that these sub-forums would be where you would go for help:

See attached:

"The Software must be used exclusively by you or members of your household.
Consumer EULA: http://files.avast.com/files/legal/eula-avast-consumer-2015.pdf This applies to free, pro, IS and premier (to my knowledge)

Corporate EULA:

We are running a legit paid for Pro version of Avast in a small office (~10 PCs) The client PC is running the AV not the ‘server’ (its really just a file share server not a DC).

I was recently brought in to support this business, their previous IT guy set all this up and was canned for reasons not relevant. If switching to Endpoint Protect is the only option available I don’t think we will be sticking with avast when their subscription is up.

If we can’t get simple exclusions to work in a paid program, what am I to expect from their other offerings?

Just a guess…
But it could be you can not set exclusions on things that are on a network(drive) on a client system.

I hope someone from avast will jump in and tell more about this.

Can you please provide details about OS used?
