NETWORK PROBLEM - Need help

I got this problem when I ran the Network Diagnosis when my ADSL modem failed to connect to the internet.

Do you know what is this?

Have you tried a repair of your LAN to fix the problem
(superantispyware)

Are you running the Windows Firewall plus another? How do you have your network adapter configured? (see attachment). Under “Local Area Connection/Properties/IPV4/properties” do you “obtain a DNS address automatically”? Could just be a DNS server problem; haven’t seen that message before though.
As they suggest, try a “repair” of the connection.
If that doesn’t work, change the “preferred DNS server” to 4.2.2.3 and try again

BTW, what it SHOULD mean is:
You sent a UDP to port 53 of “preferred DNS server” requesting an IP for a URL and didn’t get an error message
But you didn’t get a UDP back either giving you the IP you requested after 3 attempts
What it really means in Windowsese, ???

I am running Avast Firewall plus Windows Firewall

I have no problems with DNS, I checked. It is set to automatically configured. It is the default settings as asked by the ISP.

I am asking What does the Filter: Query user Firewall setting mean?

Is there any way to change it to default?

I took a quick look with Google, found some entries but no immediate solution. It looks like you have triggered a policy that says to ask you what to do next. What does it say, then, if you “click for information”?

It opens the ‘Help and Support’

It just show how to switch of and switch on the firewall and things related to it

But no info on the problem

Did you try the reset and get a valid IP? And temporarily using another DNS server? Other stuff would be to flush the DNS cache from Ipconfig, or use Netsh to reset the TCP stack, but it doesn’t seem to suggest that. Did you do anything different just before this occurred, or was it just a surprise when it all worked before so maybe temporary problem? Are you running the Windows DNS Client Service?

It was a surprise. I did the DNS flushing and stuff. Yes, I am using DNS client service

I think I solved the problem
