Network Shield blocking URL

Avast Free began blocking the site of our small nonprofit today and I’d like to find out why. Running the URL through Virus Total shows a detection of 1/38. Bitdefender found “The URL domain/host was seen to host badware at some point in time.” There has never been an issue with the site, and I just checked the files now and they are all clean. I wouldn’t think that Avast bases blocking access to our site for all Avast users on a lone false positive from Bitdefender?? How can I find out more about this and fix it. Thanks.

Can you post the URL please? Website analysts can look over the site.
Make the http to hxxp or something to break the link.

Sure. spectrumffa dot org

If you want to look over many Website scanning Sites you can look here: http://ScanURL.net/?u=spectrumffa.org#results

Bitdefender has found malware on the site.

Website analyst polonus is notified but it can take some time till he arrives.
Please be patient.

By the way Avast is blocking it as URL:Mal2 which means that there is Malware on the site.

Hi mbrowne,

Your hoster shares 29 domains hosted on that same IP.
I see no direct malcode for your particular site, re: http://jsunpack.jeek.org/?report=e9ead494851c0d2d80b81cf2f3d71bfd6ae0c7c8
but I came across a DNS server response error ->: http://www.intodns.com/spectrumffa.org
and then we land at the culprit of the possible malcode detection here, see: http://www.malwareurl.com/ns_listing.php?ip=72.52.248.49
this server ns2 dot yournethost dot net => 72.52.248.49 has or had trojan koobface malware on,
and this is what Bitdefender is flagging in retrospect here!
General website security vulnerabilities: Excessive header warning and clickjacking warning: https://asafaweb.com/Scan?Url=spectrumffa.org
These issues are to be taken up with hoster of your website…

Also consider this specific scan result: http://urlfind.org/?site=spectrumffa.org%2F#
and this site on same IP is also being blocked as URL:Mal by avast! Network Shield johnearlhaynes dot org

Geez, from 2010

Thanks. I will pass on the info. First time dealing with this… Which issues are causing Avast to block? I’m not clear whether Avast is finding problems, or is using Bitdefender’s reputation rating. And is this acceptable behavior by Avast to block our site when there is no threat from the site?

Probably a general IP block by avast.
Whenever your domain and site is clean report a FP and ask for that particular domain and site to be unblocked.
The rest is up to avast team analysts.
I am in this web analysis just for the “good of my soul” so to speak,
I mean as a voluntary forum member only ;D

Hey, polonus Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. I’ve passed it on to hosting. Still sux, but now I get it
