Since upgrading to Windows 8 and the latest version of Avast I have to disable the Network shield otherwise my routers web setup page is extremely slow to load, or elements are missing, same thing happens when connecting to my cable modems web setup, both issues are fixed If I disable the Network shield.
I thought you guys spent extra time on the Network Shield to make it Windows 8 compatible?
It’s Avast 7 Pro, doesn’t appear to matter then brand of router since I have the same issue with my cable modem too, with Network Shield enabled accessing the web setup on either device is very slow, with Network Shield disabled it functions properly.
We have seen these problems in the past with WebShield. HW appliances such as routers sometimes have rather limited Web Servers and/or send the data is some specific somewhat non-standard way and this might confuse the HTTP parser (inside WebShield or Netshield). Would you be able to create a packet dump from the communication (e.g. in Wireshark) ?
Have you tried clicking around and accessing the various options? The first screen shows fine, but trying to access the various options takes a long time, the status bar of my browser gets stuck at transferring from 192.x.x.x
I’m having trouble accessing the page of my router, already switched to the Dlink but still not able to get it in the settings page, the page loads endlessly, and sometimes occurs BSOD … = /
I just did a test, I enabled the Network Shield then attempted to access my cable modem, then I stopped the shield and here’s the entries between starting and stopping the shield.

I’m not able to reproduce the bug here in Avast!, then I can ask you if you can specify the router/modem types where the problem occurs and firmware versions (for example if you are using openwrt etc…)
The slow-down problem occurs only with router pages (all or any specific pages), or on classic web pages too?
Does help if you restart the Avast Service by Service Manager?
Additionally, do you use another third party security software for traffic inspection? Firewall, parental control, etc?
Doesn’t just effect Win8 because I’m using XP SP3, AIS 7.1474, no third party security, using Netgear WNDR3300. Router page never loads, but everything else seems to working o.k. Unlike a couple of above people, the nshield.log is empty.
Question: What is the safest and correct action I can take with AIS to access my router login page on a temporary basis until this problem is fixed? Thanks.
I’m using an ADSL router TPLINK TD-W8960NB and a TL-WA801ND access point. No slowdown, the pages are loading fast, but sometimes (about every 5.-8. attempt) the page never loads or elements are missing. This does not happens with build 1466.
