Network Shield — Basic protection against well-known network worms. Acts as an Intrusion Detection System.

There is also a help guide in the top right corner of the program

yes
but there is really few information
and i can’t understand why network shield scans jpg files!
thanks

You are introducing a hole in your security as there are still many instances of .jpg files being infected/targeted by malware. So I would suggest that you remove the exclusion. Your system your choice.

The network shield isn’t actually scanning the file, it is really only concerned with the domain, sub-domain or domain-folder, etc. if that is on its malicious sites list. But the full path will be displayed.

and i can't understand why network shield scans jpg files!
6. Can JPEG, GIF, and other image files be infected? Yes. Some software programs have vulnerabilities that contaminate JPEG files with malicious code. Contaminated JPEG files can carry or launch a virus, worm, or Trojan on unpatched systems.

i use only firefox 5 always update , never have read a firefox bug about jpg

It isn’t a firefox bug about .jpg files, they can be crafted to try and run other malware (not browser dependant), which is why it is essential that .jpg files be scanned by the web shield.

If anything firefox with NoScript and RequestPolicy (cross Site Scripting protection) add-ons is less vulnerable to these types of exploit/attack.

thanks
but in the logs of network shield i found it scans many kind of files
for me it’s weird

As I said in my previous post it isn’t actually scanning the files, but will report the full url that it is checking against its malicious sites list.
