Hi,
The Network Shield will not startup/start after reboot/reinstall or on request. All other realtime shields start up. Help!!!

I would suggest to repair avast (Control Panel-Add or repair – avast uninstall–choose repair)
And better you try the most stable version now…

Did this occur all of a sudden or was it like this when you first installed Avast? Also do you have any other security software installed?
PS - Do what Ashish said, but if you’re going to install the link he gave, I recommend you do a full uninstallation of Avast… use the Avast uninstallation utility -(http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear6.exe) and then re-install… But please note that its only a pre-release (a beta) and not the final version, so if you’re not comfortable with it just download the regular version and install (the same version that you have)
The instructions to get it working, WORKED! This all started after I removed Avast installed 6.0.1000. I removed/ reinstalled/repaired with the version firsted posted over and over again. I don’t know why… want log(s)?
Glad that it works now! 
As for the logs, I’m sure the developers will want to have a look and see what went wrong…
