The SoftPerfect Firewall
Also Jetico Firewall:
If you browse the forum a little you’ll find about them.
I just think that other ‘well known’ firewall have a bigger team of development and, usually, solve any problem faster.
In Italy Jetico is known but not diffused. Softperfect the same. PC Magazine says not good things about these 2 firewalls… but all the firewall tested (20!) works badly on outgoing connections control.
Ah I see, thanks you two for the tips ;D
The sad truth is to see how all the firewalls (famous or not) are easily dismantled by some massive attacks like DOS and unusual port scanning. The journalist who wrote the article said at the end: “the best firewall is in our head!” ;D
O_O really now… :o
That firewall is good. It passed the Shields Up tests.
Soft Perfect is based in USA.
not so far
???

i registered the home edition of avast yesterday but am yet to recieve the license key
what are my options
I’ve good news: we have PC Magazine italian edition. There’s also Computer Bild (German magazine) in italian edition. I don’t understand well the sense of your words (soft perfect is based in USA) probably because my bad english. Avast! is based in the Czech Republic, Jetico in Finland, Kaspersky in Russian Republic… where is the problem?
The test result said something like this: "All firewalls are excellent in blocking INGOING attacks but ALL firewalls work badly in prevention of undesired OUTGOING connection.
Ciao!

You should start new thread, and not make a reply in this that has nothing to do with your question… as you can see, this thread was started with firewall topic… this way, no one will be able to see your question and to understand your problem.
What options are you talking about ? You should receive your 1-year licence key, right click your avast! blue bal icon in system tray (next to system time), click About avast!.. and then when window pops-up, click on LICENCE KEY… and finally, enter your key.
If you still haven’t received e-mail from Alwil with your licence key in it, then you may have to take a look if that mail is characterized as SPAM by your ISP spam filter or any local spam filter you may have installed…
Cheers !

You can use the demo key for a full 60 day trial, so there is no great rush. Ensure that you haven’t got a spam filter blocking email. If you haven’t received it a week or so I think you can assume it has disappeared into the internet black hole. Register again and a copy of your original key will be sent if you use the same email address or a new one if you use a different email address. Watch out for a reply so spam filtering doesn’t get it.
For the future you should have posted this in a new thread, not in one that has been started that doesn’t relate to you problem.
Another not famous firewall
www.looknstop.com
Its a rule based firewall. Its developed by two persons only. 3mb memory footprint. 10under heavy network load.
700kb installer. Passes more leaktests/outbound vulnerabilities than outpost. Passed the GRC.com Shields Up test.
Its a very good firewall but the fact that is developed by two people only gives you unsecure feelings.
Only two people working on the FIrewall? Sheesh. :o
Then what about this firewall:

;D
You mean theres acually a firewall that you can just install between the outlet?
Don’t know in the rest of the World, but in Italy this firewall is unknown… the most curious feature of this product is the price comparision: see and smile!!! ;D ??? :
see…
