New and Need Help

After doing a virun scan the report shows infected files. Then it says access denied and I can’t delete, move or do anything with them. What can I do to solve this problem?

Can you post the file path of the file that is being detected?

What version of avast are you using Home or Pro ?

What is the infected file name, where was it found e.g. (C:\windows\system32\infected-file-name.xxx) ?
Check the avast! Log Viewer (right click the avast ‘a’ icon), Warning section, this contains information on all avast detections. C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashLogV.exe

  • Or check the source file using notepad C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\log\Warning.log and copy and paste the entry.

If you have XP, vista or Win2k (all 32bit), you could enable a boot time scan. Right click the avast icon, select Start avast! Antivirus, a memory scan will take place followed by the opening of the Simple User Interface, Menu, ‘Schedule boot-time scan…’ Or see http://www.digitalred.com/avast-boot-time.php.

Are you sure this list is showing infected files ?
As this sounds more like a list of files that can’t be scanned, so exercise care.
