new Avast and 4.8 upgrade block everything

It blocks incoming outgoing mail
Block internet connection and sound
If I stop Avast everything is ok.
If I stop Avast go to a music web site the sound is ok and remains afer I restarted Avast.

Where can I get the old 4.8 ?

What is your firewall ?
Does it allow avastSvc.exe internet access ?

  • If it does delete the entry for it and reconnect to the internet, then try to collect your email, this should force the firewall to ask permission again.

How did you install 5.0, over 4.8 or as a clean install first uninstalling 4.8, etc. ?

I uninstales avst 4.8. Shutdown. Restart the computer (HP & Vista)
Installed 5.0
Permitted avast 5.0 trough the firewall.

I uninstalled ver sion five. Reboot.
Clean version 4 and 5 with avst clear uninstalled as found on the forums.
Reboot.
Reinstalled version 5.

The same thing appens.

You didn’t say what your firewall is ?
Nor if your firewall had permission already did you delete the entries for avast, some firewalls despite having the processes allowed they still block.

The firewall is on if I check or uncheck the agent mail. If I uncheck it it works.

I disabled the firewall: it stays the same.

It was Vista firewall.

Right, unless you enable the Vista firewalls outbound protection (disabled by default) then that shouldn’t block the avast process so there is something else in the loop. If you do have it enabled then it needs to allow avastSvc.exe permission (sorry I can’t help with the Vista firewall I don’t use Vista).

With the mail shield enabled, what errors do you get when you try to collect or send email ?

What is your email program ?
Does your ISP (or email service) use SSL/TLS (secure encrypted) email ?
What other security software have you got installed ?

Are you able connect to the internet now, you didn’t mention that this time round, if not are there any errors displayed ?

i hope it works, but in case it doesn’t all the 4.8 products are on this page: http://www.avast.com/download-software#tab3

There has just been a program update released, 5.0.545.

Hi,

I updated the program to 5.0.545. Same problem.

Yes I always could access internet disabling the avast agents (not the firewall). How could I wrote to you?

I am using Windows Mail.
There is no SSL features on my mail.

For the 4.8 avst , do I download the avast! Professional Edition?

Votre serveur a mis fin à la connexion de manière inattendue. Les causes possibles peuvent être des problèmes au niveau du serveur ou du réseau, ou une trop longue période d’inactivité.
TRANSLATE: Your sever has cut the connection in an unexplainable maner. Maybe there was a problem at the server or network, or a too long idle.

I suspect that what is getting in the way, for whatever reason is still there and affecting 5.0.545.

Unfortunately I don’t use Windows Mail either, so can’t be any practical help there.

If you have an avast 4.8 pro license then yes that would be the one to download, though I don’t know if the link given is for the avast 4.8 pro version. Though you should be able to input the 4.8 pro license key into avast 4.8 Home and it should convert it to the 4.8 pro version.

Thanks.

Well, about 4.8 . I want the free version.

I get 0x800CCC0F errors in Windows Live Mail on my Windows 7 system if I permit Mail Shield to scan SSL connections so I un-selected both the inbound and outbound message scanning.

No matter what settings I tried in Mail Shiled I can not get message scanning to work so I rely on File System Shield to detect bad things.

What do you do for the web shield?

Web Shield is for HTTP browser traffic not POP3 email traffic.

I know

I ment do you uncheck the Agent Web to browse internet?

Try to upgrade to 5.0.545 first. If not then heres the links to the free versions of 4.8

I know

Dont you uncheck the Agent Web for the browser to function?

I have to turn off the web shield in order to be able to browse. I wish I didn’t have to.

There is a solution somewher. It does not make sense.

On Vista I tried to set the services of Avast automatic
