Hi all,
we just released new AVAST beta. In this beta, we would like to ask for your help with testing our new licensing backend. If you are willing to help, please see this new thread about licensing changes in the beta channel: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=198923.0
FIXED:
Issue with playing HTML5 videos in the SafeZone browser
Improved compatibility with Windows 10 Creators Update
Fixed issue with disabling components, which require restart
The changelog isn’t very detailed to say the least. There have been many fixes which haven’t been mentioned here that I can see:
The UI should auto fit the screen resolution if the UI was too big.
The Avast account is back in GUI,
Many UI issues have been fixed,
Virus chest dialog are fixed.
When running a scan and the toaster was opened, when scan completed, the toaster would show scan cancelled. That has been fixed.
Considering the length of time since the last update, I had certainly expected more fixes.
There were a lot of complaints about many problems, very few of those seem to be fixed in this release.
You are right. Many of the UI bugs are now being fixed in the separate UI update channel. These bugs may not be tied to a specific build version and will be at some point fixed in beta and or release channel. However, I definitely forgot to mention important changes like the Avast Account.
There were lots of scan issues reported previously, No Pause button, Scan progress appears to stop, Scheduled Scan not working. But nothing in the Fixes and the Known Issues still reports ‘Scans do not start on scheduled time.’
It really amazes me the number of times basic things have been removed that are considered by many users as essential, followed by extreme reluctance to restore it. This really is depressing.
If they are going to remove things (such as they did with the remote assistance, screen saver scan) I wish they would come clean and tell people in the forums rather than simply ignore them. Its not as if there is a shortage of screen space as the UI is bloody massive and with even more acres of empty space.
In all honesty I couldn’t care less about Scheduled Scans as I don’t run them outside of beta testing and the forums.
