Hi there, I just upgraded to the new Avast 5 free edition and it’s not working. In the UI I’m being told that I’m unsecured and theres a fix now option that does NOTHING! I had a look on here to see if there was any advice, which there was. The advice said I should use the removal tool in safe mode and then re-install. I did that and still the program is malfunctioning in the exact same way.

Have you used the removal tool and selected avast 4.8 home/pro then uninstall also?
Because that’s what you should remove first if that was your previous antivirus before going to the version 5
Your PC have infected by Virus Which is now Not detected By Anti-Virus and also not Let Anti-Virus work.
I face this Problem I just re-Install Windows and then It works. ;D

Did you reboot after installing V.5?
Please tell us more about your system… (OS?/other security sw?/any av installed before?)
Did you upgrade to the latest version of avast? (5.0.507)
