We will soon be releasing a new program update of avast; and as usual, we’re making it available for public testing a few days before the official release. Edit: now updated to build 6.0.1086.

You can either install from scratch, or over an existing installation of avast (any version). Users of the previous pre-release builds (6.0.1021, 6.0.1027, 6.0.1035, 6.0.1044) can also use the built-in program updater.
Did you resolve the problem with Windows Media Player that becomes red ? Because it comes from AVAST 6, when I uninstalled AVAST 6, Windows Media Player went to its normal colour.
And I had a problem with the search function of windows explorer : when I opened the search page, it staid blank.
I noticed another problem that was with all AVAST : it makes YouTube slow. The video “buffering” is slow and when the video is playing, it stops 5 - 10 seconds later. With KASPERSKY, the videos play perfectly. I am sure of that because I have a high connection 10 mb since november 2008 so I can watch youtube videos since this date … and I already had AVAST and since november 2008, so since I can watch youtube videos there are problems when playing Youtube videos. And there are no problems with KASPERSKY now.
To be honnest, because of all these problems I uninstalled AVAST and I installed KASPERSKY but KASPERSKY is too heavy for my computer. So if all the problems with AVAST 6 could be resolved, it would be great. I didn’t buy any licence for KASPERSKY yet, there are 27 days remaining before the free version stops, so it would be great if the problems could be resolved
I wanted to install AVAST 5 again, but I don’t have the installer anymore and there will be certainly no infections updates anymore very soon.
Thank you very much in anticipation
configuration : windows XP 2002 version SP3 - 2.17 GHz - 1.00 Gb RAM.
yeah not much to say except that webrep (for those interested) runs fine in Chrome. Nice thing in Chrome is that you can disable add-ons on the fly ;D .
oups minor issue with WebRep in Chrome (dev 12.0.733.0). Thought it was just the first launch but that happens again: WebRep remains inactive (grey) when first web page displayed in Chrome at startup; reloading the page (or launching any new page) activates WebRep. Then webrep keeps working for the whole session. As said that’s reproducible.
Updated via UI, restarted and it’s running smooth like silk.
So far for my system no problem at all.
Will do some more intensive tests tomorrow, but I really do not expect any bad things. On the first glance the snags I had are all solved in .1086 :-*
