New Avast: UI is great but under the hood improvements needed

So I really like the new Avast. The UI is smooth and I like the color palette. That being said, scan times are slower and the program is a bit more resource intensive than it used to be. The software engineers really need to focus on optimizing the scan engine and lowering resource usage.

Bump.

??? ??? ???
Since you didn’t ask for any help, why the bump? There isn’t anything to answer.

Well perhaps someone can add onto what I said. Or ideally, an Avast engineer can respond and take the feedback to make the program better.

No avast user can expand/respond to what you said as it isn’t a specific question.

Do you really expect/think that avast aren’t always striving to optimize the scanning engine as they have for many years. Adding more protection functions doesn’t come without some system overhead. I have been using avast free for almost 13 years and it has changed massively in that time.

You don’t even say what your system is and how much/what resources you have. I have three systems ranging from:

  1. Win10 64bit laptop with Intel Core i5-7200U @2.50GHz to 3.1GHz, 8GB DDR4 RAM, 256GB SSD primary drive
  2. WinXP Pro SP3 (see signature).
  3. Win7 32bit, with a crap 1.5 Intel atom dual core CPU and 2GB of ram, even this is able to run the latest avast version. I always do a custom scan and only install those components that I actually need.

i5 6200u, 6gb of ram, windows 10, 850 evo SSD.

Of course I assume Avast is working on scanning engine optimizations and of course I recognize that adding protection modules will add to system overhead. I’m just stating that performance has decreased. It’s feedback. Other users can expand by talking about their own experiences and what they observe. This is a forum so I’m just sharing my thoughts.

This is primarily a help Forum.

Fair enough but there’s no statement explicitly saying one can’t give feedback on here. When Avast brings back the feedback section, I’ll use that.
