Hi all, please welcome Avast 20.6

Here is the top new stuff:

  • Simplified privacy settings - We’ve updated our privacy settings to make it easier to manage your privacy
  • Payment notification - If for any reason your payment fails during an automatic subscription renewal, we’ll now let you know on the main dashboard

What was fixed:

  • Malfunctioned Chrome distribution upon install
  • Nasty Passive mode error (frozen UI, disabled service)
  • Some more rare Rescue Disk creation failures
  • IDP incorrectly stating that detection can/can’t be removed
  • Handle leak
  • Heap corruption fix
  • UI issues when Remote Access Shield or Real Site were disabled as custom install components
  • Tray icon misbehavior when enabling/disabling components
  • Disabling confusing Firewall toaster on Unidentified network

How to install:

  1. Update from your existing Avast version via Settings → Update → Update program
  2. Or you can download and install files:

Known issues:
• Instup.exe and Icarus.exe generating a lot of FW rules and asking for permission

I hope this fixed the issue with Gmail message not getting recieved or sent that was happen with 20.5, More then few times I have to Disable Avast sheild to get it working again, and work fine after it been re enabled a for few days till it happen again and I had to disable sheild again

Updated all three computers again, immediately tried to create rescue disks (USB) for the computers…

IT"S BAAAACCCCKKKK

WE FAILED TO CREATE A RESCUE DISK on the two computers that I have rescue disks for when it gets to 29%!

How come this fault has reappeared? Are we going to have to wait another four months before you fix it again??? How come faults like this are occurring at all? Do you even test these new releases?

Note my annual paid subscription is due for renewal in two months, at this stage I’m not looking at renewing Avast, due to these problems over the last year, and the length of time it takes you to fix them.

All I’ve been reading on the net is that I only really need to run Windows Security on my computers, that I dont need a third party AV at all…

UPDATE: Tried creating Rescue Disks (USB) again today. Rescue disks completed successfully for both computers.

Bob3160 The problem with windows installer was fixed on a beta version few days ago.

So i wonder if it was already included on the 20.6 or to the next version?

if the release notes appeared at each startup of windows with version 20.5, they never appeared even after the 2 reboots following the 20.6 update.(3 computers updated).
is there a way to find them in the different languages without having to translate those of the forum?

Sorry but the problem was not fixed and is still being addressed.

I dont know if somebody mentioned it before, but there is issue with Avast rewards for bringing new friends - There is old version of UI with old avast licences as rewards

Can you explain exactly what the issue is ?
e.g. what did you do/try and what were the results/errors.
Without that I don’t think that they can investigate.
