Hi all, please welcome Avast version 20.7 (20.7.2425)
The latest news:
Signing in via Google or Facebook - If you choose one of these to sign in, we’ll now redirect you to their websites instead of doing it inside of our app
Fixed shield statuses - The on/off statuses for Password Protection and Remote Access Shield are now properly reflected in your UI. (Avast Premium Security only)
Improved performance - Your antivirus now runs even smoother thanks to tighter integrations with the Windows registry and boot optimizations
Something extra for out beta users:
In the latest 20.7 BETA version, you can now try GUI in the updated design (based on our Avast Omni edition). Just go to Settings → General → Troubleshooting → Theme. Please note that some UI parts are still in the original design and that there are improvements yet to be made in navigation. Though we would like to hear your opinion in this early stage.
From 100+ tasks related to this release, here’s some highlights of things we’ve fixed and improved:
The incorrect yellow dashboard state after a new version was released, even though auto-updates were on
The incorrect “expired” dashboard status after an upgrade from free to paid [AVG only]
SmartScan stopping caused UI freezing in some cases
Firewall Public mode was not blocking ICMP responses while scanning, but now it does
Fixed impact of new CEF on IPM content and IDP
Fixes in restoring settings from backup files
Changing language needed you to restart, which was not intended
The incorrect handling of file size in virus chest was preventing more files to be added
Rescue disk now checks for USB drive size
How to install:
Update from your existing Avast version via Settings → Update → Update program
I had to uninstall Avast after today’s update, it had a memory leak. It was taking up more than 32 GB and growing. Once uninstalled, the problem was gone.
Yes, now 4 AvastUI.exe processes are running (5 when GUI is opened). Before update I had only 2 AvastUI.exe processes (3 when GUI was opened). How many AvastUI.exe processes will be after next update? 6 or 8? :-\
After upgrading avast antivirus version 20.7.2425 (сборка 20.7.5568.590) RAM usage 12 GB from 16GB RAM. My system - Windows 7 Ultimate service pack 1.
Before last update this problem was not.
How the fix this problem ???
That link helps – sort of. The options are there we just can not see them. That is still a bug in the new release. The color scheme needs to be changed.
hello, not sure what is happening with my avast but after the update, the Avast Service is continually running taking 30% of CPU nonstop. 3 reboots have solved nothing, neither has a full shutdown. why is this happening?? How do I fix this?
hello guys,
after upgrading to 2.7.2425 the pc (win7 sp1) started to lag around extensively. every action was laggy caused by a enormous amount of cpu usage. not only by avast, but by the opened programs too. vivaldi or firefox for example needed much more time than usual and once started, they were laggy as well, as every keyboard stroke.
disabling of avast did not help, so i deinstalled avast and this issue was gone. everything back to a normal, quick and fast response.
i deinstalled avast via the deinstalling tool to get rid of everything. then i installed it again.
same issue as before. the pc is slow again. so i got rid of avast again and the pc is again nice and fast.
please check your possibility to solve this issue, or maybe provide a possibility to revert the update to 2.6.2420. thank you!
alex
I have withdrawn the comment. I overlooked an important factor, Power Options, which invalidated what I wrote.
The variables created by changing the power options just before installing Avast 20.7 were sufficient to affect the perceived effects as displayed in Task Manager of updating from Avast 20.6 to 20.7. I am now satisified that Avast 20.7 works well and I changed this comment as soon as I was aware of my error so as not to offer confusing information to others.
