Hi David, the main problem with Export/Import should be solved in this version. However, during verification of the fixed problem we found out some more issues that are connected to specific configuration not being exported/imported properly so agreed to give it more time in December/January to make it better. Have a nice day. Petr
What I can add, as an example, in version 21.8 Export/Import of settings into/from a file kinda worked,
but some settings didn’t restore at all to the ones that were set during exporting into a file.
That was easy to miss, until I tried changing every single setting (and removing global exceptions) after the Export and then trying to restore them.
When you will be finishing the fixing of the Export/Import system, and will be checking that everything works,
especially keep attention to those problematic settings:
The Shield’s own settings (I only had Web and File Shields installed, so it could be either a problem with them, or with ALL the Shields),
“Malware / Potentially unwanted programs” Sections of settings.
Global exceptions, (directory paths added manually).
This version seem to have solved most of the Restore problems including Firewall Application Rules. But it still can’t restore Ransomware Shield settings i.e. Protected Folders and list of approved apps.
Hi,
I don’t know if it’s part of the bugs treated with this version but:
1-the special characters are displayed correctly in the new release notes
2-“Avast antivirus” does not appear twice in application notification.
as it was the case when I upgraded to 21.10 https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=308695.msg1666012#msg1666012
edit:
however I spotted a French translation issue.
I noticed that the new version of Avast Free with the firewall active was randomly slowing down my internet connection and not opening web pages.
I uninstalled Avast Free and everything is working fine again.
I updated to the new version through Avast, selected the restart now option and let it do its thing. Now my display drivers don’t work properly. I can’t adjust the brightness on my laptop monitor, and my second monitor plugged through HDMI can’t be detected. I had the same problem a few months ago when I had to uninstall and reinstall Avast, and it messed it up on the uninstall portion. I was able to fix that though through an optional HP (the brand of my laptop) driver update through Windows update that found and fixed the problem on a restart. I don’t have the ability to do that since there are no HP updates through Windows update to install right now, and the Device detector from the HP website isn’t helping me out.
Has anyone had a similar problem after an Avast update, or ever?
Hi, I’m new here, could someone please assist with a query, since it seems it is impossible to contact avast directly?
I am using avast free edition (#?)on the old Windows XP home.
It randomly starts downloading shitloads of ‘stuff’, which I assume is updated patch files or antivirus updates, but I have no control of the data usage.
ALL pc functions stop, including browser(s), internet traffic and open windows or access to anything until up to 200 Mb of ‘stuff’ is downloaded!
Is this normal and if I can change these automatic settings, how?
If you use v18.5 you will need to open the Menu>Settings>Updates and turn OFF Program updates. Otherwise it will update to v18.8. Leave Virus Definition Updates ON to ensure those are updated.
Hi, I can’t hide the Avast icon in the taskbar! When I choose the option to hide the Avast icon, the icon hides. When I restart the PC the icon is present in the taskbar! If I go into Avast’s notification settings the option “show avast icon” is not checked, but the icon is still there. It’s an annoying bug. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Avast but nothing has changed. Thanks for helping me.
