NEW Avast Version 21.5 (June 2021)

Can’t confirm, 21.5 is running smooth here.

Performance is a very subjective thing. This episode has been a learning exeprience for me and so a very helpful one. Thanks to all who contributed and shared their knowledge which I have found most beneficial.

Why is avast blocking a game client program that has been running on my computer every day for the past 10 years, most of which I’ve had Avast as my AV?!?

You can report a suspected FP (File/Website) here: https://www.avast.com/false-positive-file-form.php

I’m using eM-client that imports the mail from my gmail account and the Mail Shield issue is not fixed
I’m using version 21.5.2470- Build 21.5.6354.675.

Ever since the new build I am now getting behaviour and ransomeware shields failed to load and sometimes the password shield.
Program version :- 21.5.2470 (build 21.5.6354.679) Avast Premlum
Virus Definition version :- 210701-4

Have uninstalled using the avast tool and reinstalled ofline version then updated.
Doing a search seem this issue has been around for a while even with the correct version.

I am supporting a customer who insists on using Avast Free Edition and it blocks all incoming mail using Windows 10 Mail (blue envelope). No emails received since 12th June! The error code in the app was 0x80072f0d. This relates to a certificate error and the account which it fails on is a plusnet.com email address. The error code resolution was to turn off the Avast Mail shield. My customer has Outlook 2019 installed and that is not blocked by Avast Free edition - but I cannot persuade her to use this superior email program! If you could resolve this I would be grateful. If I had my way I would move her onto Outlook but she won’t budge. I will remote into her machine tomorrow to check the Avast versions and update to the above one to see if this resolves it or if she is on the same version. Thank you for your help

Start a new thread and provide details there.

After some update a couple of weeks ago the Mail Shield has started to tag and quarantine an automated mail from one of my business partners as Virus, even thou it is not, and it was never tagged like this before the update.

It uses the - HTML:Url-inf [Susp] as the reason for this action.

The mail content is moved to Quarantine, but when I try to Restore it I only get the “Whoops, error occurred.” message.

The mail is clearly available in the quarantine vault, since I can restore it to a file and manually take it from html to eml and open it again in Thunderbird just fine.

I tried adding the senders domain to the Exceptions, but that had zero effect, since the mails are still tagged and quarantined.

So, WTF is happening with the Mail Shield on this new update?

Thanks for the link, which said that this was fixed in the 28.06 update, but it was still happening at least on 02.07 for me, with everything updated, so I have sent a False Positive message on the link provided in that thread.

Regardless of this False Positive issue, that still doesn’t explain why these quarantined mails can’t be restored from the quarantine vault, but get an error instead.

Whilst this isn’t directly related to this avast program version, but the virus signatures that would apply to even earlier versions.

See extract from a reply I made in another topic.

I don’t know what today happen, but my Chrome now work normally. For long time my Chrome was slow, delayed and sometimes just frozen completely. I suspect it was caused by Avast, because i reinstalled Chrome, disabled HW acceleration, disabled all extensions and nothing helped me. Now works perfectly without any change in my PC, chrome version is same as yesterday and yesterday was my Chrome very slow and freezing. So it is sad if Avast need many months to fix this issue. I am on Win 7 64bit Avast Free.

I also have the same problem with Chrome on two PCs with Avast Free. So the problem with Chrome slowdown is Avast Free? Did you uninstall it Avast?

This appears to be a certificate issue. When I enable mail shields but disable IMAP / POP checking, I’m able to receive mail but not send mail. I need to figure out how to import the new certificate from Avast! I guess.

No, they probably fixed this silently, but after many months!

What is wrong with Avast now? Every shut down of my PC takes some minutes and event viewer says “Avast service was not shuted down properly”. I noticed this issue today. Win 7 64bit Avast Free

When is resolved?

I still have problems, Chrome opens after a long time …
