Hi, all. Please welcome the newest version of Avast AV: 22.8 (22.8.6030)
Major public announcement:

  • WebCam Shield fixed and improved We solved functionality issues when using Windows Hello face authentication while WebCam Shield is active. This shield will prevent apps and malware from accessing your webcam without your consent.
  • Auto-continue option added to Smart Scan You can automatically move to the next step when no threats are found in each stage.
  • Mail Protection improved in Mozilla Thunderbird The error messages about invalid email server certificates have been fixed.
  • Bug fixes Minor fixes to optimize your protection.

Following this update, Avast seems to be blocking mail sending using the Pegasus Mail program. If I disable Avast, I can send mail, and by unticking the Mail Shield: scan SSL connections in Gekk Settings I can eliminate the problem. However, this now leaves me open to malware sent via my SSL connection to the server and I’d like to know what is the way to allow scanning of the SSL connection but allow it to actually connect! This problem has only manifested since the upgrade - the program worked Ok prior to that.

Following this update, Avast seems to be blocking mail sending using the Outlook Express on my Windows 7 system. If I disable Avast Mail Shield, I can send/receive mail easily. However, this now leaves me open to malware sent via my SSL connection to the server and I’d like to know how to solve this problem which was not there before the recent upgrade.

Seems good, but still there are some small issues. I have them all in my profile.

I’m sure most don’t look at profiles. It would make more sense if you listed them in your post.

SSL Email also…As my systems update to this version, my users are losing sending and receiving of Oulook email vi ssl connections.

Any fixes Avast Support?

The new version ALSO blocks Outlook 2003 from sending/receiving POP3 via Gmail.
Disabling shields for Outlook files or Gmail website does not solve the issue.
Disabling all Avast shields for 10 minutes DOES,
but then what do I have Avast for?

I am trying to read this one before my computer restart to do something.

this version (22.8.60.30- build 22.8.7500.748 from august 19) does not update virus definition, it stays setember 9, 2022 the date when I update the engine from an older version and also had trouble detecting the renewal of subscription, it says “connect to the internet” meanwhile network inspector detects the internet…
I am using windows 10 pro build 19041.264
So I want to know where can I download an old version of the software (from 2021 for example…but the one must contains the option for set firewall rules because I like to set block, allow for each program before it connects to the internet…)

Since you’re the only one that seems to be having this problem, maybe you need to check what you’re blocking in your firewall rules?
