NEW Avast version 24.3

running smoothly.

@DavidR.

I installed the new version on a different computer but when I restarted all I had was a black screen. I pushed the power button but it wouldn’t open. It ruined that computer so I had to buy a new one. I shouldn’t have installed it on this one.

Use your recovery disk to boot that system.

I don’t have one and I got rid of the one Avast ruined.

Hmm… Seems to me if Avast was eating systems these boards would be lit up with tens of millions of complaints. ::slight_smile:

Agreed.

I’d take Pondus’s advice and spend monies on a nice Chromebook laptop. You don’t need an antivirus for Chromebook, it self-updates, and Google maintains your security for you free of charge.

Here you go:

This does not mean you’ve to go and buy right away but take your time and make your best choice. I think you might be surprised and happy at the same time.

:frowning: It zapped my Dell Computer. I’m going to find a better anti virus program.

I have an HP laptop PC on which Avast Free is installed with Windows 10 and recently it no longer always starts. When you turn on the PC or restart it (when after quite a few attempts to turn it on it turns on) the black screen remains and only the LEDs on the keyboard remain lit.

I can’t understand what it could be, also because the few times I manage to start it it works correctly without any errors.

Now reading this post I wonder if Avast Free might be the cause…

I use Avast Free on two Asus and I’m not experiencing any problems at the moment.

again ;D

Get someone to install ChromeOS flex and then you have a chromebook and no need for antivirus, you can do this on any old computer you have
I know it is useless to tell you this because you never listen and will not try anything we suggest

you find a ton of info here https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=324963.0

This post was made with a Chromebook :wink:

Just installed the latest free Avast anti-virus. It wiped out all my recent bookmarks and shows ones that I haven’t used in over a year. I had deleted most of those old bookmarks and yet, here they are. I’m a 70 yr old non tech type so be gentle.

I turned off and restarted my laptop and nothing changed. That is the extent of my computer knowledge.

@Pondus,

You said I never listen? I do but I make my own decisions. I wanted a HP desk top and that’s what I bought. Why don’t you use Avast? ???

Becaus avast has become a annoyware, full of annoying popups and buy this and that
this forum is full of post about that, latest came in today https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=327204.0

And my ISP give me a free AV that i dont notice is installed, works totally quiet in the background and only pops up if there is a security issue

I wanted a HP desk top and that's what I bought.
you should have gone for this then, HP Chromebase https://www.hp.com/gb-en/chrome/chromebase-all-in-one-desktop.html

Pondus,

I haven’t gotten any pop ups on this new computer. Rarely ever got any on the one Avast ruined.
