I just downloaded the new version of avast, and after the restart I got an error message that avast could not scan pop3 or smtp because my firewall was blocking it. I checked and the email scanner was allowed, by the way I use comodo firewall. Thanks in advance for any help.
Can you delete the entry for the ashMaiSv.exe into Comodo firewall settings and invoke the email program again?
Then allow the new file to access the Internet.
I just did a system restore and ran the update again and got version 4.7.1001 and now avastwill scan pop3 and smtp. That must have done the trick.
Happened to me also. Same as last update.
One more reboot seemed to solve the problem.
So, the story of this thread is there is no problem now right?
