Now I can no longer receive emails from an account with SSL POP (port 995)—it says error “connection with SSL, EOF was observed that violates the protocol”, and the email program just hangs before giving up. But I had SSL checking off. When I turn off scanning for inbound messages (which of course defeats the whole purpose of an AV), everything works fine.
This is on Win 8.1; this is happening both with Outlook 2013 and with my email notifier program (PopTray with the SSL plugin). Everything works fine on my XP machines.
I have submitted tickets about this, and about the problem of Avast plugins not working with IE11 under 8.1, both of which make this program basically unusable, but I have received no response from Avast at all and hoped that posting here might have more luck. I hate having to go to another product after deciding to give Avast a try prior to buying the premium version, but I’m basically unprotected with the ‘scan inbound messages’ off.
LATER EDIT: Still no reply to my tickets, after days, nor to this post. We had hoped to upgrade all the machines in this small office to Avast paid, and I was the guinea pig ;), but at this point it looks like I have to find another alternative. Avast had a good reputation in the past, but the later versions seem to be plagued with issues. Really would like to get this working if I can.
