Thnx Team

But why does Avast adds a YouTube clip to Game Mode :o ( see attached screenshot )
Never seen this before …

Also when I turn off whatever shield, I am not notified anymore by a yellow mark on the systray icon :-\

Testing…

Are you sure you haven’t ignore the warning before? for me it works fine. check the notification center please

Works for me, tested with behavior shield.

Thnx,

That was indeed the problem.
I have no time now, but will test it better this weekend.

Thanks for the new beta

BTW since previous beta, sometimes I have a DNS problem with Real Site (site not loading, DNS resolution failing).
Stop/restart Real site seems fix the problem.

A troublesome scenario regarding Notification Center ( what has happened to me ) :

1 ) Open Avast - Settings - Components - ( for example ) Behaviour shield - Off / Stop … - Yes - Ok.
2 ) Open Notification Center - Problems - V ( arrow down) - Ignore.

  • Notice there is a mention about Ignored problems.

3 ) Than again Settings - Components - Bahavior shield - On - Ok.
4 ) Open Notification Center again.

  • Notice that the mention about Ignored problems is gone.

The problems are :

1 ) When you ignore mentions for one shield, all the other shields are ignored as well.
2 ) With this scenario you won’t get mentions for the shields ( any shield ! ) because they are ignored, and most likely you are not even aware of it.

EDIT : I got a quick reaction from Avast Developer Endt on Slack, that he sees my point here and it will be passed on to the product developer.

@ Red,

This really is annoying beyond belief, making changes to something that was perfectly fine (and found to be very useful to many users), only to screw it up royally makes me wonder the direction avast is taking.

The disappointing thing is this isn’t the first change that has been made only to break something.

I can remember when beta testing way back in avast 4.x was unbelievably stable for a beta, not the beta testing appears to be a bit of a minefield. I have had to drop out of this beta testing sticking on avast! free 17.5.2296beta, any beta after that I was plagued by BSODs and I have lost the desire to continue that situation.

They should just move the old Status Monitoring settings access from main settings into the Notification center. And leave it as it is.

Yes I know what you mean. we will adjust it to cover it by each shield.

We have just released a quick beta refresh, version 17.5.2302. It fixes couple of deadlocks which could occur under special circumstances.
Thanks for updating!
Petr

Thanks Petr, updated…

Thnx

New were the 2 green “New” messages in the UI for new items like Ransomware shield.
I didn’t make a screenshot of it :-[

@ David,

I can understand that Avast wants a notification center, a centralised place were you can (re)view all messages from Avast.
But the current implementation of status monitoring was ( and is ) simply not ready for Beta testing.

Greetz, Red.

I have to say since the Notification area came in, it has been a pain in the backside. This forum is littered with posts on the failures/bugs in the Notification area, false reports, duplication, multiplication, failure to show details, but runs a scan again, etc. etc. etc.

It’s a mess.

still need more optimizations in dashboard
other UI
and needs more light weight also need more speed

“Dismiss all” notifications button fades notifications out WAY too slowly.

Would also be nice it it was possible for users to disable the notifications count number on the tray icon. I can imagine people want notifications histor so you can look back what happened if there is a need, but don’t want avast! triggering their OCD by showing a number on tray icon. I know it’s bothering me a bit…
