When I first saw the intended action culling the number of paid products to one, I felt this really was a poor decision. In the present incarnation there are too many paid products, but culling down to one is a step too far. There is such a thing as having too much choice and the other of not enough choice.
I would say that this is the latter, insufficient choice.
Just how many paid users are Avast prepared to pi55 00f and which direction will they take, jump back to avast free or choose another AV product better suited to their needs.
This would obviously impact on Avast Resellers as they would lose the potential sale with no flexibility of product. Not everyone wants all of the current Premier and the new Premium.
Didn’t be previously have a Premium version that changed/morphed into the current Premier version.
This obviously won’t impact me as Avast Free suites my needs, but for sure it will impact current paid product users. Do they need the extra functionality/components and would they be prepared to pay extra for them. Plus what happens to existing licenses and support for that product.
I’ve used all 4 of the Anti Virus options over the many years I’ve used and supported Avast.
I started in around 2000-2001 with Avast Free obviously and then after years I jumped to Avast PRo. I used Avast Pro for a couple of years and then upgraded to AIS which I used and alternated Firewall between Outpost Firewall Pro and AIS Firewall.
I’ve alternated between AIS and Premier in the past years. The option to upgrade was the path to future sales/Licenses.
And it gave me options. Just saying.
Maybe this is a conversation that should be in a topic of its own.
