Hi everyone,

there is a new beta version ready - 22.2.6001 (build 22.2.6962).

What’s fixed
Fixed crash in SmartScan
Fixed crash in aswToolSvc initialization
Fixed crash in Secure DNS
Fixed issue with multiple FW dialogs shown for the same *.exe file

Known issues
FW and Scan settings are reverted to default after update (discovered by Asyn, thank you for that)
Rescue Disk may not work on systems with UEFI (still under investigation, special thanks to user rocksteady for letting us know about it)
You might experience the issue with not working cleanup scan in AV

What exactly aswToolSvc do? I dint have any info about it. Thanks.

Hi TheOwner,

aswToolsSvc hosts non-AV features such is Do Not Disturb Mode, Rescue Disk, Shredder, TuneUp SmartScan and some shared components.

22.2.6001 (build 22.2.6962.528) fixed the AvastUI startup problem (W7 defense issue?), but the “Network Protocol Error” with Firefox 97.0 and 97.0.1 appears worse on many HTTPS sites. Turning off HTTPS scanning “fixes” it.
Also, there’s still the broken serial/COM port OS scanning at boot. See ticket 11394513 from almost two years ago. It appears Avast allows the port to be briefly opened during the scan, but doesn’t allow any data transfer to/from the external devices.

Hi, this setting in geek area (screenshot) was enabled after both beta updates (had it set to disabled).

the issue with resetting FW and scans settings should be fixed in the next beta (this week).

I’m very sorry you are having issues with HTTPS sites in FireFox browser.

Could you please help us with the investigation by providing some data?

Please enable debug logging (Menu > Settings > General > Troubleshooting > Enable debug logging)
Reproduce the issue (load HTTPS site in FF which results in protocol error).

Create a support package (https://support.avast.com/en-eu/article/Submit-support-file) and post the ID here.
