I was using Avast Free Beta 22.7.6022 with no problems except that adding, deleting and changing Firewall Rules caused the UI to hang. Then Ransomware Shield doesn’t seem to work until PC restart.
When I updated to 22.7.6023 Beta, the problem I mentioned before in this Forum for Avast One is now with Avast Free.
On PC reboot with external drive plugged in:
files deleted from external drive goes to its Recycle Bin.
If I pull out the external drive and plug it back in again:
files deleted are deleted permanently and doesn’t go into Recycle Bin. Avast now considers the external hard disk as a flash drive where there is no Recycle Bin.
I uninstalled this beta and installed the stable 22.6 version. Same problem.
From trial and error, I found that this problem is caused by the Firewall component. After uninstalling the Firewall, the problem went away. Maybe because of the extra Network Rules from previous Beta.
When I said I deleted a file, it means I right-click the file in Windows File Explorer, then ‘Delete’.
If I start PC with external drive already plugged in, a file I delete goes into Recycle Bin. If I then unplugged the external drive and then plug in again, Avast makes it a flash drive without Recycle Bin. When I delete a file, Windows asked whether I want to delete it permanently meaning there is no Recycle Bin which is behaviour of a flash drive.
With Avast 22.6 Beta earlier, even if unplug and plug in again the drive, there was a Recycle Bin. Too bad there is no offline installer for beta versions so that I can go back to 22.6 Beta. The stable version 22.6 also got this problem but not 22.6 Beta.
From trial and error, I found that this problem is caused by the Firewall component. After uninstalling the Firewall, the problem went away. Maybe because of the extra Network Rules from previous Beta.
Can I please have an offline installer for Avast Free Beta 22.7.6022? It is the version that I don’t have any trouble with except for Firewall UI hanging.
