Sorry Petr, no improvement for me. RC4 on PaleMoon is still broken - Avast appears to re-write it to something not understood: “(Error code: SSL_ERROR_NO_CYPHER_OVERLAP)”. This is the same error one gets if RC4 isn’t enabled in the PaleMoon prefs.js.
Also “self-signed” certificates (and special ones like https://www.fnmoc.navy.mil and others!) saved in PaleMoon now become invalid across OS reboots. OS is W7-64+ESU. Firefox works fine (except where RC4 is required – hence the use of PaleMoon just for some local hardware access).
I can live with the lack of RC4 - just turn off Avast for the few times I need access to the LAN device that needs it, but the certificate problems are going to bother anyone using PaleMoon (and maybe other non-mainstream browsers?). I also tried older versions of PaleMoon – same issue. Avast 22.9 is what’s different.
Sadly 22.9.6034 doesn’t work for me either, connecting to a Claranet server using IMAP port 993/465 I can’t receive and get server timeout when trying to send.
Regarding the PaleMoon browser. We are investigating this (RC4) issue. We increased the scanning level on this browser recently and just for Beta builds. As a workaround you can switch to the production version where AV should not affect TLS settings of this browser.
Regarding persisting email connection issues. Would it be possible to capture Wireshark while reproducing the issue please?
1 session - MailShield ON - 2 adapters at the same time (Ethernet or Wi-Fi + Loopback)
1 session - MailShield OFF - just one adapter (Ethernet or Wi-Fi)
How is this beta still alive as Avast version 22.9.6034 (build 22.9.7554.734) has been released. I would have though we should be on the 22.10.xxxx beta version.
Is you comment effectively saying that it hasn’t been fixed in the Regular release
