Thanks for the new beta

Starting with the previous beta (6059) and now this, the system takes between 2 and 5 minutes to shutdown! Normally it’s 20 to 30 seconds. OS is W7-64 (with all ESU updates) with 16Gb. Using the Avast “Disable until computer is restarted” returns the delay to normal.

Hello, can you please try few things:

  • first of all please enable debug logging
  • it seems that disabling all components helps - can you please disable each component one by one to check, which one is causing this?
  • after the test, please create a support package and send it to us

Thank you.
Karel

Hello, we had to release new build 23.4.6061 (23.4.8104) to beta with another changes:

  • new icarus setup component
  • due to some issues with User Interface we had to revert CEF (Chromium Embedded Framework) to previous version

Thanks Karel for the reply to the possible shutdown issue. A day after I posted it a secondary (not system) hard drive failed. Fortunately with a few hours work all was restored on a new drive (thanks to OO-Software backups!). Regardless, since then I have not noticed the long shutdown delay, so it’s possible that the system was waiting on the drive that was about to fail. I’ll keep an eye on it and submit debug data if it returns. Again, thanks for the quick reply!

The long shutdown delay is not related to my previous disk problem… Here’s what was recently logged by the OS system log. Unfortunately, Avast logging wasn’t enabled at the time. The problem doesn’t show up at 100% of the shutdowns, but has been going on for a while:

Log entry:
“The Avast Antivirus service did not shut down properly after receiving a preshutdown control.”

  • 7043 0 2 0 0 0x8080000000000000 1550788 System Spock
  • Avast Antivirus

All this from a W7-64 Pro (with all ESU updates) system log.

OK, but please share debug logs with us so we can check it.
Thank you.

Hi again Karel. It “failed” again at shutdown late last night. 3+ minutes to shutdown this time with Avast logging enabled. A system error was also logged. I included it in the debug dump notes that was just uploaded. Dump file ID: EXU6A Best regards, -Tom

Thank you, I asked DEVs for assistance.
