What does this new licensing system mean? I hope it won’t restrict us from de-activating a machine to reinstall Avast again in case someone formats his PC
The components menu sounds like a cool feature to have. It’s certainly more obvious than finding it in the uninstaller itself.
I also hope they’ll redesign installer/uninstaller to follow the Windows theme and control. I had to once uninstall avast! on my tablet using only a keyboard in safe mode because touch wasn’t working there (it only has one USB port so I couldn’t use mouse and keyboard together) was absolutely terrifyingly bad. I tried selecting buttons using TAB key, arrow keys and space and the thing was all over the place. I couldn’t even see what I was selecting so I was trying it blindly till I finally managed to randomly hit the right thing after 15 minutes of trying.
I believe components menu is the one in installer.
Anyways - I don’t like the installer. Why? Because when it installs and “finishes”, it actually continues to download/install in the background and the icon is not accessible for ~1 minute on my SSD setup.
It’s supposed to be complete once avast icon shows in tray… Please do fix this.
Thanks for the video Bob, nice that avast have made it easier for a user to have a minimal installation and not have to go through control panel to uninstall a component.
My pleasure. Hopefully Avast will also bring back a useful UI to make getting to features easier or, expand the right click menu of the Avast system tray icon
