NEW: Beta version released - 2016.12.1.2268

Hi all,

new beta version is live: 2016.12.1.2268
As we are getting closer to the final release, please expect beta builds to come with higher frequency and shorter changelogs.

Changes:

  • Boot-time scan available to both online and offline users, while online users have opportunity to download additional virus definitions before the scan is scheduled
  • Fixed missing firewall profile selection dialog after installation and reboot
  • SafeZone browser - New design of bank mode landing pages
  • SafeZone browser - Start menu icon fixed on Win 10

Known issues:

  • CyberCapture still holds local copy of the file which is in the protective custody even when CyberCapture feature is turned off in settings
  • Registration to the Windows security center may not be successful in some cases

Download links as usual or just update your current beta.

Enjoy,
Petr

Hi Petr,

Can you please verify if the following bug reported September 2014 is included in the upcoming final release:

When a scheduled scan (quick, full, etc) starts and completes, the UI automatically opens to the scan page for the type of scan just run. This happens even if the “open scan results” checkbox is not checked.

Thanks

@petr.chytil

Is there any easy way I could invoke CyberCatch to see how it looks and works?

EDIT:
I’ve created my own binary and it was scanned in half a second, looking like plain normal DeepScreen (and was fast the same). Is that normal? Seems a bit too fast considering it was something new because I’ve created it…

Hi RejZoR,
CyberCapture works on low prevalent files downloaded from web and then executed.

Milos

RejZoR,
as Milos says, it has to be unique executable downloaded from a web server.
To create such executable, you can e.g. append a random string to calc.exe, then publish it to a web server. After such file is downloaded and executed, CyberCustody should fire up.
Anyway, thanks for the testing!
Petr

So, if you get such file from USB drive, avast! will just happily open it? I don’t follow. I thought this works the same as DeepScreen, for locally executed files, but it then uploads it to your server and analyzes it.

the file origin shall not matter, if it’s unknown it’s unknown and must be investigated …

or you think web is the only infection vector ?

I’ve thought the same as RejZoR. Are we wrong?

Can someone tell me what’s with HIPS component? In build 2267, system started locking up with “Invalid memory location” error when HIPS was set to max level. Or even second level. But if you leave it at default, it works fine. Has that been addressed at all? Seeing how it’s not even mentioned as known issue, that worries me a lot.

+1.Confirmed.

GUI Ad is really irritating >:(Pls remove it now from beta.

Can’t see anything irritating here.
An ad is an ad is an ad…

But i am installed SZ.Why they want to launch it form GUI ???

I don’t live in the avastUI so I don’t really get irritated by a benign ad in the interface. Rather than than in-your-face popup ads.
