New browser version 81.0

Hello everyone,

We’re pleased to announce that we have released a new stable version of Avast Secure Browser (ASB) - version 81.0. This new version has some important changes and fixes.

Changes:

  • Patch to latest Chromium version 81.0

Fixes:

  • Minor fix for search in the settings

How to get this latest version:
If you have ASB already installed, it should be updated automatically (feel free to visit ‘secure://settings/help’ to trigger an update faster)

I’ve run the beta for a long time and it seems the Browser never auto-updates or updates for me from:
Settings/ Help and About Secure Browser. Even when a new beta version has been released. :frowning:
This has been a long running issue for me and the beta version.

My issue possibly due to my location, and/or staggered roll-out…not sure. :-\

Edit: I’ve noticed that one machine has updated while the other has not yet.

As far as i know the update period should be only on production not on beta.

Could you please share your diagnostic info from machine that was not updated?

  1. Open the browser and click on the menu icon (3 dots in upright corner)
  2. Click on “Help and About Avast Secure Browser” and then “About Avast Secure Browser”
  3. Click on “Diagnostic Information” (this will open a pop-up window)
  4. Click the “COPY TO CLIPBOARD” button to capture the information and paste it here.

Or go directly to secure://settings/diagnosticInfo and coppy from there

Unfortunately, I “Clean” installed the latest version manually from the link.
I’ll monitor behavior on the next cycle. :slight_smile:
