The bank mode has been improved which is nice

That’s wonderful.

Except it won’t work now.

This site can’t be reachedThe webpage at secure://md-user-manager/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
ERR_INVALID_URL

That doesn’t look like a valid URL as such, but an ASB chrome settings path, such as this one secure://settings/help, using that in the ASB and it should take you to the Settings Help section of ASB. See attached image.

So what was it that you were trying to do ?

Just clicked on Avast Browser icon as usual and that was the message that came up. Googled Avast not working and saw this post about an update, assumed that was the issue. Have scanned my laptop with Avast and no issues showing, Chrome and Edge both work fine.

Have uninstalled Avast browser and tried to reinstall - it won’t. As it tries to launch I get the same error message and the install fails.

Thanks Ruslan, spreading the news…

+1

Thats funny as I have update Version 83.0.4530.98 (Official Build) (64-bit) but can so no visible changes to Bank Mode. The big buttons occupying screen space are still there.
I have also done a Resart for good measure.
Am I missing something?

Yep, you need to run the AV beta.

Why the screen appearance of the supposedly stand-alone browser is affected by the Antivirus product beats me.

Because there is some integration with the Avast Program when you install ASB.

Could this have any bearing on the issue I am having with avast ad blocker in the secure browser?
It does not appear to be blocking ads on youtube!
Also I cannot access the settings for it and only see a blank (unpopulated) page.

Hi, see: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=234791.msg1551088#msg1551088

Basically, I like the new version of the Avast Browser. However in Banking mode, where it says “Standard Desktop” and “Bank Mode” those frequently block off part of addresses and other critical information. Perhaps each could be moved to the left and right far side of the page instead of the middle. Or perhaps a way could be found to not have them interfere with any portion of the viewing of the screen.

Hello g.dan4202,

could you please tell the name of the bank or attach a screenshot?

Thank you!

If you are still seeing the big buttons occupying screen space in bank mode, please refer to my post here:

and Asyn’s answer immediatlely below it.
i.e. Changes to bank mode in 83 needs new version of Avast Antivirus not yet released as production version, only as Beta. So at present the change to bank mode can only be seen if you run the AV Beta version. If you run the latest production AV and latest ASB then you will still have the unwanted big buttons taking up valuable browser screen space. Thats my present understanding of the situation anyway.

The Avast password manager appears to have disappeared, since the update, but it’s saying it’s enabled in the feature window thingy. It’s rather annoying having to open the password manager itself and search for whatever I want

Hi Qienna,

which Password manager are you using?

  • open: secure://security-privacy-center/
  • click on “Password Managers” tile
  • Password manager: ____?

If you using “Avast Passwords” you should see the icon (key) in your toolbar.

Oh! I hadn’t realised that was a thing, it was set to the default browser. Thanks!
